A contractor has died after being crushed by a tilt tray truck in the Adelaide Hills yesterday.
Police said the incident happened at a Strempel Avenue home in Hahndorf, where the 45-year-old man and his colleagues were installing a swimming pool.
The man’s workmates said he left around 10am to repair a truck in the street. They looked for him after noticing that he had not come back after 20 minutes.
According to Mount Barker Police’s Senior Sergeant Paul Miller, the worker was found under the truck’s rear tray.
“Something’s gone wrong and the tray has lowered down and pinned him between the tray and the chassis,” he said.
He was pronounced dead by ambulance officers who responded to the scene.
SafeWork SA inspectors visited the scene as part of its investigation.
