Paramedics have responded in a shipyard north of Brisbane after a steel plate weighing 500kg fell on a worker on Tuesday.
The industrial accident happened in Burpengary about 8.45am, and it was feared that the man was trapped. However, he was freed before paramedics arrived.
According to a spokeswoman from the Department of Community Safety, the worker had sustained bilateral fractures to his leg. He was stabilised on a truck where the accident took place.
“A hydraulic platform is in place to lower him to the ground when he is stabilised,” she said.
Officials from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland are expected to investigate the incident.
