QLD: Man Dies After Roof Fall

A man has died after falling off a roof at Innisfail yesterday.

The man, who was in his 50s, was working at height at a building site in far north Queensland.

According to the police, the incident took place just before 11am AEST.

The man, who suffered grave head injuries, was transported to a hospital. However, he died upon arriving.

Workplace health and safety officials are looking into the accident.

In a separate incident, a man has sustained burn injuries in an explosion at his home in Russel Island, south of Brisbane this morning.

According to authorities, the 62-year-old-man was using a grinder to cut a drum when the fumes inside caused the blast.

He suffered a head injury and second degree burns to his shoulder.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

QLD: Man Dies While Fixing a Roof

A man has died while fixing a roof on how a man died on a banana farm near Tully in far north Queensland on Monday.

Police, ambulance and fire crews are at the Dallachy Road property at Silky Oak.

Police say it is too early determine the exact cause of the man’s death.

According to Innisfail police district inspector David Tucker, their investigations indicate that the man died while fixing a roof from a cherry picker.

“We’re quite unclear at this point in time as to exactly what has occurred and as such, it may be some time before we determine an exact cause of death in this particular circumstance,” he said.
