SafetyCulture release their Safety News iPhone App – a convenient source of safety news from Australia and around the world.
Powered by RSS technology, the Safety News App receives news stories from multiple sources, combining the news stories into one simple screen.
The App allows for complete customisation of news sources to give users the most relevant information on-demand. ‘Safety News’ also allows for new RSS feeds to be added from general newspapers and blogs, so that users can see their complete daily news on a single screen.
News articles can be emailed directly from the iPhone, to quickly share breaking news with others around the globe.
Luke Anear, Managing Director of SafetyCulture Australia, comments on the changing way people read news:
“Up until now, reading safety related news has usually been done from a desktop computer which is time consuming and not always convenient. With the Safety News App, users can get access to relevant news on their way to work, on a bus or while they are eating lunch. So long as they have their phone or a tablet, they can access the latest news in an easy format. And best of all, they can add their own RSS feeds from major newspapers and any other website that provides a RSS feed. Users are getting customised information that is relevant to them from their preferred sources.”
Knowledge and awareness continue to be hurdles in the effective practice of OH&S, SafetyCulture aim to address those issues by assisting the free flow of up-to-date information.
“We are now moving into an age where safety related information is being shared more efficiently, so it makes sense that workers are able to receive information that is most relevant to their work,” says Luke.
“For example, fork lift operators should be able to see fork lift related incidents across all industries and increase their own awareness of what risks are associated with their work. Currently, SafetyCulture is publishing general safety news each day. Over time, users will be able to customise the information to be more relevant their interests.”
