iPad 2 Mobile Platform

12:07 pm, Wednesday 23 March, 2011

Finally, the iPad 2 has arrived paving the way for a safer workplace.

Queensland based company SafetyCulture Pty Ltd has been waiting on the iPad 2 release so they can complete the integration with their SafetyCulture Mobile Platform.

Company CEO, Luke Anear states that this is an exciting time for work place safety.

“I flew to the USA to get an iPad 2 when they were released on March 11, and I couldn’t believe the half a kilometre long cues at the stores.”

After visiting over 20 iPad 2 resellers he managed to secure four iPad 2’s, so his development team can begin on customising the Safety platform to accommodate the iPad 2 new forward and reverse facing cameras.

We have developers in the US and Australia working on this, so it was important for us to secure some working iPad 2’s as soon as possible.

“We have been waiting for technology to converge in this area for some time now, as we have customers who use Work Method Statements in their workplaces, however they are usually in a Microsoft Word format and limited to a computer. Now the customer can photograph their work site, or video their worker and insert it straight into the safety document.”

SafetyCulture mobile gives employers more relevant information for training their staff and it is so much quicker to be able to do it in real time in the field, instead of sitting down on a computer editing a word document.

‘The reality is that most people just don’t bother because it is too hard. This way, employers are able to integrate their safety training on the go, which makes it easier for them to maintain a safer workplace.’

Townsville builder, Darrell Gribble owner of Liveconstruction has been one of the first to try the platform on a work site. He says,

“To be able to go to a job site, take a photo with the iPad 2 and instantly update our site safety management plan, makes the whole procedure seamless and enables us to incorporate our systems from job to job without doubling up on our documentation. It is also less likely to be lost in a workers car or mixed up with their lunch, which is what happens to a lot of OHS paperwork.”

“At the end of the day we want people to work safer, says Anear, and we are constantly innovating to find the most efficient methods. SafetyCulture was the first company in the world to offer Work Method Statements online, and now we are pioneering the way again with the iPad 2 integration.”

SafetyCulture Mobile works on all mobile platforms in addition to desk top computers.
