Safe Work Australia announces first Safety Ambassador of the Year winner

Safe Work Australia has announced the winner of the 2011 Safety Ambassador of the Year Award on 5 December 2011.

Janine Coleman, Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator from Campbelltown NSW was proclaimed winner of the 2011 Safety Ambassador of the Year Award.

Organised by Safe Work Australia as part of the National Safe Work Australia Week, the Safety Ambassador of the Year Award is in its first year. It aims to recognise achievements of people who are champions of health and safety in their workplace during Safe Work Week Australia.

There were 46 entries for the Safety Ambassador of the Year Award. These entries were reviewed by a judging panel. The judging panel was chaired by Safe Work Australia Chief Executive Officer, Rex Hoy.

Winner Janine Coleman initiated a number of events during Safe Work Australia Week. Some of these activities included a logo competition, safety slogan, barbeque, colouring-in competitions and Fluoro Thursday event. She is a proactive safety advocate and her hard work, passion and enthusiasm for Safe Work Australia Week earned her the title of the first Safety Ambassador of the Year.

Janine Coleman will be awarded with a certificate, tickets for her and a guest to witness the 7th annual Safe Work Australia Awards in Canberra in April 2012 and a logo for her organisation to use on all promotional and information materials for the next year.

National Safe Work Australia Week will be celebrated from 21 to 27 October 2012 and the 2nd annual Safety Ambassador of the Year Award will once again be open to all individuals who signs up to be a Safety Ambassador.
