Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) is alerting businesses that use bulldozers for work to place safety before anything else. The call comes after a recent fatal bulldozer accident.
WHSQ is looking into the dozer accident that happened between September 27 and 30 September at a Milwood property.
According to initial information, the deceased was operating a D4 dozer on his property. He was reversing the earthmoving machinery when it may have struck a tree, which caused a tree branch to fall.
He sustained fatal injuries after he was hit on the head by the branch.
The initial site inspection found the D4 Dozer was not fitted with ROPS or FOPS.
WHSQ said the incident could serve as a reminder all organisations to determine the effectiveness of their safety management systems in preventing a similar occurrence in their workplace.
