A mining company has been fined $130,000 in Perth magistrates Court yesterday for failing to provide a safe work environment following an incident where a man was crushed by a section of polyethylene pipe at a tailings storage facility at the Telfer Gold Mine in December 2013.

Construction workers at risk from asbestos in Chinese building products

Many Australian building sites are contaminated with deadly asbestos. This is according to Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency CEO Peter Tighe who said 64 sites used asbestos-contaminated concrete fibre sheeting in construction imported from China.
