115 Australian workers killed on the job in 2018 so far

Latest figures from Safe Work Australia show 115 Australia workers have been killed at work since the beginning of this year.

Transport, postal & warehousing industry has recorded the highest number of workplace deaths, with 37 fatalities so far.

Agriculture, forestry & fishing with 32 fatalities comes second while Construction, with 20 fatalities, ranked third.

The figures indicate as at 29 November, there have been 9 occupational fatalities in the Manufacturing industry, ranking it fourth.  So far this year, 5 mine workers have died on the job, according to Safe Work Australia.

Other industries include  Electricity, gas, water & waste services and Public administration & safety each 3 fatalities, Arts & recreation services and Wholesale trade 2 fatalities each and Rental, hiring & real estate services and Administrative & support services each 1 fatality.

As far as i am concerned that figure is way to many, to have 1 is to many.It seems like the unfortunate ones are all young, do we need to step up our protection for the young workers of Australia? maybe a fully fledged campaign by the government both state and federal a TV , radio and the like to ensure this number doesn’t keep repeating itself or becoming even worse. As adults, mothers and fathers this is our responsibility to educate our siblings both at home and at work. LETS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
