A traffic management company has been fined $250,000 following a workplace incident that killed a traffic worker in February 2013.

The man died after being struck by a car while controlling traffic at Mowbray on February 5, 2013.

The company was fined on Monday at the Launceston Magistrates Court for failing to provide a safe work environment.

In February 2015, the company pleaded guilty to a breach of the Workplace Health and Safety Act.

Magistrate Sharon Cure said the company failed to put in place safety measures at the worksite on the day the man was killed.
