Safe Work Australia has released the notifiable fatalities July 2017 monthly report. The report provides a national summary of work-related traumatic fatalities that were notifiable to Australian work health and safety jurisdictions.
The report shows there were 15 work-related notifiable fatalities during July 2017 – seven male workers, four male bystanders, one female worker and three female bystanders.
Of the 15 fatalities, four fatalities were pedestrian hit by a vehicle on a public road, three were as a result of vehicle incident (public road crash), two were as a result of a vehicle incident (air crash) and two were as a result of a vehicle incident – other. The remaining four fatalities were due to other types of incidences.
The transport, postal and warehousing workplaces reported seven fatalities, while agriculture, forestry and fishing workplaces recorded two fatalities, Construction workplaces saw two fatalities, two in arts and recreation, one in public administration and safety and one in electricity, gas, water and waste services.
