Safe Work Australia releases Key Work Health and Safety Statistics, Australia 2017 report

The agriculture, forestry and fishing industry has the highest rate of both worker fatalities and serious workers’ compensation claims, according to a report released by Safe Work Australia.

Key Work Health and Safety Statistics, Australia 2017 report is compiled using national workers’ compensation data and data on worker fatalities sourced from jurisdictions, the National Coronial Information System, and the media.

The report shows 43 percent of serious injuries involve traumatic joint/ligament and muscle/tendon injury, while 16 percent of serious injuries involve wounds, lacerations, amputations and internal organ damage.
