A free forum on the importance of rail transport safety will be hosted by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety’s Dangerous Goods and Petroleum Safety Branch next week.

The 2017 Dangerous Goods Rail Safety Forum on 17 October is part of the department’s dangerous goods transport 2017 safety program.

“The forum brings together dangerous goods rail consignors and consignees, emergency management professionals and regulators to discuss safety,” said Dangerous Goods Team Leader Erin James.

“The forum will focus on risk management and control of dangerous goods transportation by rail and also aims to improve industry’s understanding of emergency response planning, management, and capabilities within Western Australia.”

The event is part of the department’s objective of improving safety compliance and safety culture associated with the transport of dangerous good by rail.

A pre-registration is required to attend the forum.  More information can be obtained by emailing RSDEvents@dmirs.wa.gov.au or calling the department on 9358 8154.
