Quad bike rider airlifted after incident near Bidwill

A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was involved in a quad bike incident near Bidwill on Monday afternoon.

The 47-year-old man was thrown from his quad bike after he collided with a tree, about 12km south-west of Maryborough.

The man was riding his quad bike on an off-road track when the incident happened.

He broke his leg and suffered other injuries in the incident.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was airlifted by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

  1. I am not sure what the Federal government could do about the quad bike situation other that legislate for stupidity and hell knows, we have already done plenty of that – but to no avail. At what point is the rider responsible for their own actions? At what point should an adult be held legally responsible for the actions of junior riders they are supposed to supervise. Now, there is no doubt that “risk taking” can be fun but how far any risk should be taken is a learned experience and I freely acknowledge that sometimes bad things happen to nice people despite best plan. However, unlike rats, humans fail to learn.
