A man was flown to hospital after he was badly injured in a cattle grid incident Wednesday afternoon.

Toowoomba’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to a private property, in the Western Downs region, after 3:15pm.

Reports indicated the man in his 80s had been walking across a cattle grid, when his foot became stuck.

“The patient told rescuers he grabbed a nearby quad bike, to steady himself, but accidentally activated the accelerator,” RACQ LifeFlight said.

“The vehicle reportedly shifted, dragging him, while his foot was still trapped in the grid.”

The man was treated at the scene before being flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition, with lower limb injuries.
