Work-related fatality figures updated

Safe Work Australia has released the latest workplace fatality figures. As at 28 June, 70 Australian workers have been killed at work in 2018.

The figures show 23 Transport, postal & warehousing workers have been killed at work since the beginning of 2018.

Agriculture, forestry & fishing industry has so far recorded 20 fatalities while the construction industry has seen 11 fatalities.

Other industries to have recorded fatalities in 2018 include Manufacturing 5 fatalities, Mining 4, Wholesale trade 3 and Electricity, gas, water & waste services 2.  Rental, hiring & real estate services and Administrative & support services have each one fatality.

Figures show 187 Australian workers were killed at work in 2017, compared with 182 workers in 2016.
