Safe Work Australia releases February 2017 Notifiable Fatalities Monthly Report

Safe Work Australia has released the notifiable fatalities monthly report for February 2017. The report provides a national summary of work-related traumatic fatalities that were notifiable to Australian work health and safety jurisdictions.

The report shows there were 20 work-related notifiable fatalities during February 2017—14 male workers and six male bystanders.

Of the 20 fatalities, five fatalities involved a vehicle incident—air crash while three each resulted from a vehicle incident on a public road and falls from a height.

Two fatalities each resulted from electrocution and hit by moving objects. The remaining five fatalities were from other types of incidences.

According to the report, Transport, postal & warehousing workplaces saw eight fatalities, Agriculture, forestry and fishing workplaces four, three in Construction, and one each in Electricity, gas, water and waste services, Manufacturing, Administrative and support services, Accommodation and food services and Arts and recreation workplaces.
