Two people were flown to a hospital after crashing their quad bike into a tree in south-eastern New South Wales Monday afternoon.

Ambulance paramedics assessed and treated the pair for suspected head injuries following the incident near Coolagolite shortly before 3 pm.

They were both airlifted to Canberra hospital for further treatment.

They travelled in a stable condition.

Nine people have been killed in quad bike incidents since the beginning of this year.

Safe Work Australia figures show in 2016, there were 10 quad bike fatalities in Australia including workers and non-workers, and 50% of these were related to rollovers.
