Standards Australia warns electricians and the community of the existence of a document circulating on social media claiming to be the new edition of AS/NZS 3000:2018, Electrical Installations, also known as the Wiring Rules.

“This document is not authorized by Standards Australia. Electricians are warned not to use the unauthorized document under any circumstances because it is not safe to do so,” a statement from Standard Australia reads.

Everyone is reminded that electrical work in all States and Territories should be done by licensed practitioners.

“Standards Australia does not know whether the unauthorized document has been tampered with or whether it has been developed to cause harm,” Standards Australia’s statement reads.

“Standards Australia take this breach very seriously and will do everything it can to protect the community and its intellectual property rights, including taking legal action against those involved in this breach.”

A new edition of AS/NZS 3000 is in the pre-publication stage. Standards Australia will announce a publication date later this month.
