SafeWork SA has confirmed an investigation is underway after a fatal tractor incident on a rural property in Tarlee on Friday evening.
Reports indicated the worker was working alone when he was crushed under the rear wheel of a tractor.
SafeWork SA said it was working together with police and emergency services in the ongoing investigation of this matter.
Following the incident, SafeWork SA reminds everyone who operates a tractor, or similar equipment, about the hazards and risks associated with working with machinery and on farms.
“It is important to identify what could go wrong and take steps to prevent or minimise harm before carrying out the work,” SafeWork SA said in a statement.
“Where possible, workers should try to work with another person in carrying out changes or repairs to machinery.
“When working alone or remotely, it is important to remember to prioritise your safety and to take precautions such as working more slowly, regularly communicating with others and taking regular rest breaks.”
