The Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency and Queensland Building and Construction Commission will conduct a seminar on raising awareness about the risk of imported products containing asbestos.
The free seminar will aim to address how importation of asbestos is regulated at the Australian border, the responsibilities of businesses in importing products and how goods can be verified to ensure they don’t contain asbestos. There will be an interactive panel to conclude the seminar.
Guest speakers will include QBC Board Chair Richard L. Williams; Acting Commander of Customs Compliance Branch, Australian Border Force, Department of Home Affairs, Stephen Hledlik; Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency CEO Peter Tighe; Queensland Building and Construction Commissioner Brett Bassett; Queensland Asbestos Industry Association President Michael Shepherd, and Asbestos Disease Support Society Representative Trevor Torrens.
The seminar will be held at the Pullman Hotel, Norfolk Room – King George Square in Brisbane on Monday, 30 April 2018 from 9am to 12:30pm. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
