Quirindi man injured in chainsaw incident

A man has been injured in a chainsaw incident at Quirindi.

The man in his 50s suffered neck injuries while working with a chainsaw Tuesday morning.

He was flown to a Tamworth hospital in a stable condition.

While a chainsaw makes light work of felling and cutting up trees, it has the potential to inflict very serious injuries.

According to SafeWork SA, chainsaws should only be used by trained operators, start the chainsaw on firm ground with the chain brake applied and the blades facing away from the operator and match the size of your saw and bar to the size of the material being cut.

Don’t try to use a small saw and bar to fell a large tree.

Chainsaws are only designed for cutting wood and should not be used to cut any other material or use the saw guide bar for levering or digging.
