Motorola to provide managed service mobility solution to Victoria Police to boost workforce safety and efficiency

Victoria Police have partnered with Motorola Solutions to improve workforce safety, efficiency and collaboration among frontline officers.

Motorola Solutions will provide a new mobility managed service to Victoria Police to help increase situational awareness, safety, and productivity. This new service will place real-time information at the fingertips of at least 10,000 police officers equipped with iPads and iPhones to help them do their jobs more safely and efficiently.

“Many public safety and enterprise businesses today are looking to improve the way they manage their daily workflows through the use of mobile applications from mobile devices,” said Motorola Solutions Vice President and Managing Director Steve Crutchfield.

“We will provide Victoria Police with a mobility managed service that is highly secure, reliable and helps to free up more time for frontline police to work in their communities where they are needed most.”

This move is part of Victoria Police’s Capability Plan 2016-2025, which highlights the way the force will transform its service delivery to be more “agile, responsive, people-focussed and connected” as well as the organisation’s Blue Paper: A Vision for Victoria Police in 2025, outlining how the police force is “improving capability through workforce reform and technology”.

This contract is valued at over AUD $50 million and will run for a minimum of 5 years and with the potential to extend to 11 years.

The application platform has been successfully implemented by Queensland Police.It will be tailored to meet the needs of Victoria Police.

Optus has been tasked to provide the carrier network solution to enable police officers to stay connected to critical information while on the move. CompNow will supply the Apple mobile devices, logistics, and device repair services.
