Worker impaled after falling at Gosford construction site

A worker was impaled on a steel reinforcing bar after he fell at a Gosford construction site on Tuesday afternoon.

Reports indicated the man in his 30s was working on the eighth floor of the construction site when he tripped and fell to the floor below, landing on a steel bar.

CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was tasked to the scene shortly after 3pm.

After being freed by emergency crews, the man was treated at the scene by CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic.

He was transported to Gosford Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

SafeWork is investigating the incident.
