NSW firefighter injured tackling blaze

A firefighter was airlifted to hospital after she was injured battling a bushfire at Belerada Creek in New South Wales.

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Chifley/Lithgow Team operational officer Brett Taylo said the female firefighter was airlifted to Orange Hospital to be treated for her injuries, Western Advocate reports.

“She has a sore back, the tree hit her on the back,” he said.

“It was serious, but not life-threatening.”
