Latest figures from Safe Work Australia show 18 Australian workers have been killed at work in 2019. Agriculture emerges as the most fatal sector with 6 fatalities so far, while Transport, postal & warehousing comes second, with 5 recorded fatalities.
The figures show 4 construction workers have been killed at work this year.
Others include Public administration & safety 2 fatalities and Electricity, gas, water & waste services 1 fatality.
According to Safe Work Australia, in 2018, the preliminary data show 154 Australian workers were killed at work, compared with 190 workers in 2017. These 2018 figures are preliminary figures and will be updated when more information becomes available.
