Latest figures from Safe Work Australia show 118 Australian workers have been killed on the job so far this year.
Transport, postal & warehousing has emerged as the most fatal industry, with 38 fatalities so far. Agriculture, forestry & fishing industry, with 33 fatalities comes second, while the construction industry, with 21 recorded deaths holds third place.
The figures show 8 workers in the manufacturing industry have died on the job since the beginning of this year. And a total of 5 mine workers have been killed at work, according to Safe Work Australia.
Other industries with fatalities include Public administration & safety (4), Electricity, gas, water & waste services (3), and Wholesale trade and Arts & recreation services each 2 fatalities.
Others include Rental, hiring & real estate services and Administrative & support services each one fatality.
