Two men are dead after a workplace incident in North Queensland Saturday night.
Police said the brothers, aged 52 and 48, died while cleaning a molasses tank in Sarina.
The men were found dead inside the tank at a Sarina transport company around 8.30pm.
Reports indicated the men were affected by fumes while cleaning inside the tank.
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is investigating the incident.
Mackay Regional Councilor Martin Bella said the incident would have a huge impact on the community.
“Part of the shock is that two men who’ve been around the traps for as long (as they have) can be caught in this situation,” ABC quoted him as saying.
“I think it stands as a warning to all of us that we’ve just got to be careful.
“Rural accidents can affect experienced people as much as young, inexperienced people and it’s a horrible thing.
“It certainly makes you rethink some of the things you do in a farming and in a semi-industrial sense — you’ve just got to be more careful.”
