Two teenagers have been injured in a quad bike crash in Victoria’s south-east.

A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were injured when their quad bike rolled in Gippsland on Wednesday afternoon.

A rescue helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the pair to hospital.

On Wednesday morning, two patients, a male and a female, were taken to hospital  with serious injuries following a quad bike crash in Gympie.

Figure from Safe Work Victoria show there were four quad bike fatalities in Victoria between 2016- 2017. The four fatalities involved rollovers.

  1. Is there a reason why roll bars are not being fitted to quad bikes? Can some of the rollover characteristic be mitigated by widening the vehicle’s track (wheel separation)? Helmets are important. Speed limiters might also be considered.
